I work at a company called Made4me Corporation. This is a short story about the history of this company, and the coming together of a group of very talented individuals to try and build something that had never been done before. The company was born out of an idea from Gabriel Liebermann to attempt to generate custom clothing. The first person to actually start working on this project was somebody whose name I don't remember any more. He used a variant of LISP on an Apple PowerPC to generate basic patterns for jeans. This project is referred to by us today as the "Lee Project", primarily because Lee was the company providing the funds and support. However, the project was not successful, although there was some learning gained from it. Andrew Nation who was still a student of physics at Purdue University then got on board, and developed the very first lower body garment draft. I joined this company some time after that, and got involved in developing a nesting/marking solution for custom apparel. At this point the company was actually called eZ~mAx Apparel Systems. In December of 1999, with funding support from Albert Charpentier (of Commodore 64 fame), Made4me was incorporated with Albert as the President and CEO.
